About Me

  • Hello you. I'm a 38-year old MSc student, studying Advanced Computer Science at Sussex University. I'm especially interested in Internet and mobile software, sensors and pervasive computing, user interfaces, and the process of developing great software.

Before that I spent 11 years running Future Platforms, a software company I co-founded which makes lovely things for mobile phones, and which I sold in 2011.

I read a lot, write here, and practice Aikido and airsoft. I live in Brighton, a seaside town on the south coast of the UK, with two cats and a clown.

Hi Tom

Interesting idea. I may do same for my ventures as well. Some thoughts.

Agree on all with caveats as below

a) i.e. digital agencies and the like) will likely follow.
yes - but with one big difference. agencies are far more used to managing 'properties'. On the web - owners of the properties(sites or social networks) may not want to deal with agencies - in some cases will create functions similar to agencies - ex FM publishing, Hyves etc etc. Since they have the network, they have a stronger position in my view in comparison to agencies who migrate to the Web

b) Whilst budgets are still low, there's plenty of room for growth, and interest from the advertising industry.
Mobile advertising will become more niche and more 'western focussed' ie by that I mean in a recession - while there is growth in emerging markets - which everyone wants to pursue - from an advertising perspective - may be better to get higher value niche audiences in mature economies.

Both mobile web and also free apps will provide that critical mass.

My two cents

Hope that helps
kind rgds

I wrote a business plan, but I'm a little unsure whether to uphold the rules agreed to go in front of a CV or a bank licensed by the SBA. Could you please show me how to write a business plan through a website, or give me some advice from personal experience?
