About Me

  • Hello you. I'm a 38-year old MSc student, studying Advanced Computer Science at Sussex University. I'm especially interested in Internet and mobile software, sensors and pervasive computing, user interfaces, and the process of developing great software.

Before that I spent 11 years running Future Platforms, a software company I co-founded which makes lovely things for mobile phones, and which I sold in 2011.

I read a lot, write here, and practice Aikido and airsoft. I live in Brighton, a seaside town on the south coast of the UK, with two cats and a clown.

Re: mob poker,

I just learnt to play texas hold'em. The teachers at my school have a weekly low stake game and I figured it'd be a good way to get to know people and a good excuse to sit in the pub (if you can call it a pub).

Anyway my housemates taught me to play in spanish so I was fully prepared to start playing for money the following night...f'sure.

I had fun despite being the first out of the game...and it was suggested I try an online poker room to familiarise myself with the winning hands and the betting structure...but I cannot bring myself to play against real people that I can't see even in the "not for real money" games that most websites seem to offer...

So poker on my mobile? No thanks! Maybe I'm a sucker for the whole "poker face" thing...I've seen too many movies...tbh Casino Royale was enough. Anyhow it will be insanely popular...I've been in a lot of hostels these last months and the majority of US travellers seem to have their laptops with them and they all spent a fair amount of time playing online poker...

So there you go.
